What We Do

The Hopkinton Garden Club is dedicated to enhancing the beauty and vitality of our community through gardening, education, and civic involvement. Our members volunteer their time and talents to serve the town of Hopkinton in a variety of meaningful ways.

Civic Beautification

Club members design, install, and maintain plantings at key locations around town, including the Town Common, traffic islands, public planters, and the Hopkinton Welcome sign. We also decorate select areas for the winter holidays, adding seasonal cheer to the community.

HGC Scholarship Program

Each year, the Club awards scholarships to Hopkinton students pursuing studies in horticulture, environmental science, and related fields. Information about application deadlines and eligibility is available on our website.

Education & Programming

We offer educational opportunities for members and the public through presentations by guest speakers, hands-on workshops, and collaborative programs with local organizations. Our “Speaker Series” covers a range of gardening and environmental topics. We also work with groups like the Hopkinton Public Library and Historical Society to bring garden-related knowledge to a wider audience.

Veteran's Breakfast Centerpieces

Each month, members create seasonal floral centerpieces for the Veterans’ Breakfast held at the Hopkinton Senior Center. This gesture of appreciation adds a warm, decorative touch to a special community gathering.

Art in Bloom

Each spring, the Hopkinton Garden Club partners with the Hopkinton Center for the Arts for the annual juried Art in Bloom show. Club members design and create floral arrangements inspired by selected pieces of art, using a variety of flowers and creative techniques. The resulting art-and-flower pairings are displayed for the public to enjoy, celebrating the beauty of both artistic expression and floral design.

Holiday Decorating

We help bring festive spirit to the Town Common by decorating the Veterans’ Memorial Gazebo and other key locations in collaboration with Parks and Recreation. Members string lights, hang wreaths, and arrange winter greens to celebrate the season.

Garden Therapy

Our Garden Therapy program brings hands-on, garden-inspired activities to seniors in the community. Projects have included building birdhouses, creating floral arrangements, and other nature-focused projects. These activities encourage creativity, connection, and enjoyment while fostering an appreciation for plants and wildlife. Club members provide materials, guidance, and plenty of encouragement, making each session both fun and rewarding for participants.

Family Day

Hopkinton's annual Family Day is a community event featuring fun activities for kids and families. Our club typically has a booth for painting pumpkins and a photo backdrop complete with fall decorations. It is a great opportunity to meet many community members and share in the mission of the Garden Club.
